Separation of Powers

Most states in the world allocate the governmental powers to the executive, judicial and legislative branches. However, separation is just the first step' checks and balances are more important.

  • Understand the theoretical basis of the separation of powers

  • Understand the functions of the different governmental branches

  • Analyse how the branches can check and balance each others
